Supporting queer couples’ to have the eco-weddings of their dreams has always been a core part of who I want Emerald and Ebony to be; striving to be inclusive and offer my services to people from all walks of life is so so very important – particularly in an industry so riddled with traditions and social stigma. And yet, I can’t help but feel that I simply haven’t been doing enough.

This pride month, that feeling ends.

As pride month approached this year I found myself filled with that awful feeling known as imposter syndrome. Any plan I formed to support the LGBTQIA+ community as ripped straight back down again in my mind. “Tokenism!” my brain screamed, “you haven’t spoken up for their rights before, why would you start now?”

But the thing about being a queer ally is that it really isn’t about me. It’s about you, the ones who struggle every single day with the stigma and hatred that often surrounds being true to who you are.

This pride month I’m taking the opportunity to build lifelong habits. To educate myself and to develop my understanding in ways that will extend well beyond the month of June. If spontaneously embracing “plastic free July” can lead to me ditching plastic indefinitely (almost at the 2 year mark team!) then I can only dream about the change that embracing pride month might have on my life as a vocal ally.

I know I’ll make mistakes along the way, but I promise not to let that stop me anymore I promise to not just take in those learnings but also to get right back up and keep being vocal… (more on Instagram)

Jodie Munro
Owner and Wedding Planner, Emerald and Ebony

What’s Included:

On June 30th I’ll be gifting one queer couple with 50% off my full wedding planning service. That’s their whole wedding planned and coordinated for just $1,750.00.

But what does that actually mean?

Full Wedding Planning is my most comprehensive of services, it’s the one where I really get into the nitty gritty of your eco-wedding and pull all those hidden strings to make things work out just the way they’re meant to.

Full Planning means I’ll be there to help you out with everything from researching vendors and ideas to budgeting, booking, communications and even design. You get to sit back and relax (don’t worry you’re also welcome to take the lead on any area of planning that you wish) while I do the hard yards and make things happen. Plus, full planning extends beyond the preparations. I’ll also be there on the day to run around keeping everything flowing smoothly and ensuring you have the stress free and incredible day that you deserve.

More on this and my other services can be found here.

But not only that –

If the winning couple chooses either Auckland or the Bay of Plenty as their wedding location they’re also being offered FREE Celebrant Services thanks to Kerry from EcoWed and Mānea from House of Vows.
